Villa Chamoun guesthouse is in the village of Hasroun, known as Rose of the Mountain and one of Lebanon’s most beautiful villages.
A stay at the villa is a promise to transport you to a mountain-top oasis surrounded by towering ancient trees that have been a
witness to time, breathtaking valley views with fragrant rose gardens, tall-girl daisies and dainty daffodils.
Villa Chamoun was a magical garden for the grand children, the ultimate 60’s playground for the family and a must stop for friends. The villa has been restored and reimagined with the memories of childhood summers spent by the pool, splashing fountains and recollections of parties that defined the era.
Villa Chamoun is a haven for the outdoor lover, it has enchanted areas for the mood you’re in. Whether you would like to be alone in deep thought, or feel like socialising, you can enjoy the space you like.
In the early 60s Toufic Chamoun began plans for a modernist villa in his native village of Hasroun. The villa was constructed on the site of his original family home built during the Ottoman era. He personally designed a home for the future while respecting the traditions of the village. His fascination with automation, industrial production and promising new materials were incorporated in his blueprints.
The works to dismantle the existing stone house took over a year, and the stones were donated to locals. The construction began in the spring of 1963, a two-year project to build a 4-story home and a modern way to live for his wife Marie and his 8 children in their prime: four beautiful daughters and their four protective brothers.
Villa Chamoun was completed in the summer of 1965 and was inaugurated by Camille Chamoun, a lifelong friend.
A Lebanese industrialist, inventor and philanthropist with a career in mechanical engineering. In the 1920s, he embarked on a journey to the United States of America, where the automotive industry was in its early formation. Curious, passionate and visionary by nature, he experienced first-hand the rise of the automobile during his time with the Ford Motor Company.
This collaboration proved fortuitous, for it fuelled a lifelong passion for the automobile. Toufic Chamoun embraced this new era wholeheartedly, as he pursued interests in engineering and in artistic fields. He was an autodidact in architecture and design with a lifelong pursuit of photography and videography as the avant-garde forms of media of the time.
